DIGITAL “DIET” – Courses

As promised in a previous post on diet and supplements we are going to look at “digital diet” and online content that supports recovery and change in a number of posts throughout 2020. In Recovery terms I believe our digital “diet”, device use and engagement with screens can be hugely beneficial – I also know that social media, online content, poor device management and all that comes with it is a growing relapse contributor.

I benefitted enormously from a huge number of changes to what I watched, read and learnt – how and when I used tech, and when I switched off. I did not stop watching whatever I wanted to, I just watched/listened digitally consumed in a different way. Normally I’d talk digital “detox” and all that good stuff here and now (but that will come) but I wanted to start with online courses, because Commune are offering Russell Brand’s Recovery Course FREE for a week. Whether you are in 12 Step Recovery or not you may well have an opinion about Russell – we do and it is rather positive – but whatever it is hard to fault his comment;

“There’s an assumption that 12-step recovery is for addicts and alcoholics — and that is indeed how I found my way into the program. But what is also true is that 12-step recovery is for everyone.”

Russell Brand

Russell is keeping good company at Commune with Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra and the amazing Adrienne Mishler, among many others, offering courses for personal and professional growth, living well and personal health and “impact” which they say is about promoting positive change.

We offer our two courses on the Udemy platform, you should be able to find the links all over the Online Recovery Academy site, but just in case our Mindfulness In Recovery course is available now, this course is intended to supplement your existing recovery process whatever stage you are at. The Family – From Addiction  To Recovery is intended for families to learn more about addiction, and about the hope for recovery.
